What inspires me?
For my concentration and some breadth pieces in the 2018-2019 school year, learning about history inspired me. This is because every time I did something related to history, I researched the topic. In the 2019-2020 school year, learning about animals and how they evolved was something that really interested me, so I incorporated that into my art. There is some other educational value besides doing the art. My concentration concepts: My theme for my concentration pieces in the 2018-2019 school year was portraits of British monarchs. I chose this, because I like history. With the portraits, I researched the people, so I could include historical references in the background, or on the person. A couple of concentrations were based off of TV shows that are about the monarch pictured. With this theme, I hoped to get good at drawing faces and some anatomy. My investigation topic in the 2019-2020 school year was pre-historic animals. When doing the art, I also researched the animal, and found out what habitat it lived in, what food it ate, when it was living, etc. That was so I could communicate to the viewer a clearer picture of what the animal looked like. Technique: I usually draw the main focus of a picture first, then work on the other details in the picture. For example, if it's a portrait, I draw the person first, then draw the background. If it's a landscape picture, I do the background first, then the foreground. If an animal is the focus, then I draw the animal first, then the background. Most people do the opposite, but I found it is easier for me to draw the main subject first. |
